Acne & Breakouts
Breakouts happen when pores clog with oil and dead skin, then become inflamed by bacteria. They range from occasional hormonal spots to persistent congestion and the right routine depends on which you're dealing with. For most, the foundation is salicylic acid to keep pores clear, niacinamide to calm inflammation and regulate oil, and a lightweight non-comedogenic moisturizer to maintain the barrier (skipping moisturizer makes acne worse, not better). Introduce actives gradually to avoid irritation. Avoid over-scrubbing, picking, and heavy occlusive products. If breakouts are severe, cystic, or scarring, this is the point to see a dermatologist, topical skincare has limits, and some acne genuinely needs prescription treatment.
