Pelican Soap Fruit Foot Soap
A properly coarse scrub bar, for skin that has earned it.
Most body scrubs are designed for skin that is thin and easily upset. Heels are neither. The skin there is some of the thickest on the body, builds up over months, and generally laughs at the sort of gentle polishing that works everywhere else.
Pelican made this bar for that problem specifically. Four hard seed scrubs — woodland strawberry, peach kernel, apricot and olive — do the mechanical work, while a fruit acid blend of lactic, malic and citric acid softens the buildup so the scrub has something to shift. Persimmon tannin and green tea handle freshness, which is the other half of what feet actually need in a hot climate.
A long list of fruit juices and ferments sits behind all of it: pear, apple, orange, lemon, lime, grapefruit, hawthorn, jujube, yoghurt and honey ferments. It smells like a fruit bowl and behaves like a pumice stone.
Read This First
Pelican are unusually direct about this bar, and we will be too.
It is not for sensitive skin. The manufacturer says so plainly, and we would rather tell you now than have you find out.
Use it once or twice a week, not daily. The scrub is coarse enough that over-use will leave your feet worse than when you started.
Feet only. Not the face, not delicate areas, not anywhere the skin is thin.
If you want something gentler for the rest of the body, the Koisuru Oshiri bar is the one to reach for. This one is a specialist.
Why You’ll Love It
- Four hard seed scrubs. Woodland strawberry, peach kernel, apricot and olive seed, chosen for coarseness rather than comfort.
- Three fruit acids. Lactic, malic and citric, softening the buildup before the scrub lifts it.
- Fermented ingredients. Pear juice and yoghurt ferments alongside honey ferment, which is where the surprising softness afterwards comes from.
- Persimmon tannin and green tea. Long used in Japan for freshness, which matters considerably more in a Gulf summer than a Tokyo winter.
- A fruit salad of extracts. Apple, orange, lemon, lime, grapefruit, hawthorn, jujube and grape leaf.
- Inexpensive, and it lasts. Once a week from an 80g bar goes a long way.
Why Feet Need Something Different
Hard skin on the heels is pressure doing what pressure does. Walking, standing, shoes that do not quite fit, and in this part of the world, an entire year of open sandals against hot ground.
Moisturiser alone cannot fix it, because the buildup is the thing stopping the moisturiser from going anywhere. Something has to remove the layer first. That is the whole job of this bar, and it is why it is built the way it is.
Then the foot cream works, which is the part most people skip.
