Clear Turn Sorry Bare Skin Kinishinai Spot Care Patch
Kinishinai means "don't mind it." That is more or less the entire brief.
A spot patch thin enough to vanish under makeup and sticky enough to survive a night on a pillow. It's transparent, it's water resistant, and it comes in three sizes so the patch matches the spot rather than announcing it.
What it does is straightforward: it seals the area off from friction, dryness and your own fingers, while a short list of actives sits against the skin underneath. Salicylic acid, niacinamide, centella and a stable vitamin C derivative. No fragrance in it, no oils, no silicones.
Forty-six patches in the pack, which is a great many more than most.
Why You'll Love It
- Genuinely invisible. Very thin and transparent, and it takes makeup over the top without an obvious edge.
- Stays put overnight. High adhesion, so it survives sleeping and washing.
- Water resistant. It doesn't give up the moment you splash your face.
- Three sizes. Large 12mm, medium 10mm, small 8mm. Six, twenty-four and sixteen respectively.
- Actives, not just a seal. Salicylic acid, niacinamide, centella asiatica and magnesium ascorbyl phosphate.
- Free from mineral oil, oils, parabens and silicones.
- Illustrated by NAPPY, the same collaboration as the Sorry Bare Skin masks.
Not a Hydrocolloid Patch
Worth saying clearly, because it changes how you use it.
Hydrocolloid patches absorb. They draw fluid out of a spot and turn white and opaque when they're full, which is the signal to change them.
This is a different thing: a thin adhesive film that protects the area and holds active ingredients against it. It won't turn white, because it isn't absorbing anything. It's for the spots that aren't weeping. The one that's flat and stubborn, the mark left behind after a spot has gone, the patch of skin you keep touching and shouldn't.
If your spot is open or producing fluid, a hydrocolloid patch is the right tool. For everything else, this one.
What's Inside
Salicylic acid, oil-soluble, which means it works inside the pore rather than on the surface.
Niacinamide and magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, a stable vitamin C derivative, both for the look of an evener tone, which is what you want on a mark that's outstayed its welcome.
Centella asiatica leaf extract and coix seed extract, two quiet fixtures of Japanese formulation for skin that looks unsettled.
Who It's For
- The flat, stubborn spot that isn't going to come to a head
- Marks left behind after a breakout has cleared
- Anyone who picks, which is most people
- Wearing under makeup, where thickness is the usual dealbreaker
- Long days where a patch needs to survive from morning until evening
If You're Buying Your First Spot Patches
Two things to get right, and then this is easy.
First, the skin has to be completely dry and completely bare. No toner, no moisturiser, nothing. This is the reason patches fall off, every time.
Second, these are not the kind that turn white. Those ones absorb fluid from a spot and change colour when they're full. These are a different sort: a thin invisible film that protects the area and delivers ingredients into it. So don't wait for a colour change, because it isn't coming.
Use them on the flat stubborn spots and on the marks left over after a spot has gone. For the angry ones that are actually weeping, use a hydrocolloid patch instead.
And the real reason patches work: you physically can't pick at a spot with a patch on it.
