Decorté launched its first liposome serum in 1992, the first cosmetic in Japan allowed to call itself a liposome product. This is its modern version: a light serum carrying around a trillion multilayer liposomes in every drop, each about 0.1 microns across. Their layered structure resembles the skin’s own lipid layers, so they blend into the upper skin as if they belonged there, releasing moisture gradually and leaving skin softer and ready for whatever comes next. Around them sit ectoin, a ceramide, bifida and yeast ferments, rose myrtle, birch sap, an amino acid moisture complex and hydrolysed hyaluronic acid. Skin looks smoother, plumper and more radiant, pores look less noticeable as it’s hydrated, and fine lines caused by dryness look softer, a claim Decorté has tested.

It feels almost like water in the hand, sinks in at once and leaves skin cushioned and comfortable, never sticky. The scent is a delicate tea-green floral, gone almost as soon as it’s applied.

Our note: In Japanese skincare this comes first, straight after cleansing and before your toner or lotion, which surprises people the first time. It’s there for a reason: it softens skin so that everything after it spreads and absorbs more easily.
