ReFa Lock Oil | Heat-Activated Styling Oil
Applied before the iron, not after. That's the whole idea.
Hair doesn't set when it's hot. It sets as it cools — which is why professional stylists cup a section in their hand for a moment after the iron passes, holding the shape through the seconds that actually decide it.
ReFa built an oil around that. Lock Oil's heat-conduction formula moves heat into the hair quickly and out of it quickly, so the shape you made in that moment is the shape that stays. No stiffening, no crunch — the hair surface is never hardened, so it stays soft enough that you'll keep running your hands through it.
Japan's number one hair styling oil by brand share, with over five million bottles shipped since 2020.
Standard or Light?
Both share the same formula philosophy. The difference is weight and finish.
Standard — a supple hold with rich, glossy shine and that wet-look definition where strands sit together in defined pieces. Made for firm curls, waves, and heavier, more polished styles.
Light — an airier hold with natural shine and softer separation. A weightless feel, better for undone styles and for precise work on a fringe or face-framing pieces.
If your hair is fine or you want movement, take Light. If you curl properly and want gloss, take Standard. Plenty of people keep both and choose by outfit.
Why It Works
It locks the shape as heat leaves. ReFa's own testing compared a section treated with one pump against an untreated section, both curled at 180°C for ten seconds, then left for six hours at 25°C and 65% humidity. The difference in how the curl held is the entire argument for this product.
It repairs while it holds. Heat-reactive conditioning agents — meadowfoam-δ-lactone and γ-docosalactone — bind to damaged areas when the iron passes, smoothing and tightening the cuticle. That surface then defends the style against the day's humidity and dryness, which in the Gulf is not a small consideration.
Eighteen plant oils, engineered to absorb. Argan, jojoba, camellia, macadamia, rosehip, avocado, sacha inchi, evening primrose and more, blended in a fixed ratio. Unusually for an oil, it's formulated to be hydrophilic — it mixes with water rather than sitting on top, so it travels into the hair instead of coating it.
The Scent
Pear and apple over a green note. Fresh, faintly sweet, and gone by the time you leave the house — it's there for the ten minutes you're styling, not for the rest of the day.
